Pilates Reformer with Tower vs Standard Reformer: A Studio Buyer’s Guide

A tower changes the equipment you are buying, the room layout and the accessory list. Start with what your studio needs to teach, then compare two complete configurations. A higher equipment price alone does not tell you which one fits your project.

What changes when you add a tower?

A standard reformer centres on a moving carriage, springs, a footbar and a rope system. A reformer with tower adds a vertical frame and its specified spring and bar attachments. The useful comparison is the actual equipment package: which attachments are supplied, how they connect and what instructions come with the model.

In the ATME catalogue, ATMECC001 is a standard maple reformer. ATMECB001 combines a maple reformer with a stainless-steel tower. Its specification also lists a mat conversion board, roll-down bar, push-through bar and safety strap. These are purchasing details to confirm against the quotation. They do not establish that every tower reformer has the same package.

Choose around the classes you intend to offer

Give your instructor the two model specifications and ask which configuration the planned classes require. If the brief calls for reformer work without tower attachments, compare the standard model against that brief. If it includes tower work, define the required bars, springs and conversion arrangement before requesting a price.

A reformer with tower and a full Cadillac are different configurations. Do not assume that a tower provides an overhead frame, supports suspension exercises or accepts an attachment shown on another machine. Any required exercise setup needs confirmation from the exact equipment instructions and the instructor responsible for the programme.

Measure height as well as floor space

Compare the current product dimensions in the model table below. A tower adds a height requirement that a floor plan based only on length and width will miss. Check the overall height for the exact frame and tower combination you intend to order.

Those dimensions describe the products; they are not a complete room layout. Allow the access and movement clearances specified for the selected model. Check ceiling fixtures, the installation route, doors and any delivery lift. Ask how the tower is assembled and who will carry out installation. A sketch with the room measurements is more useful for a quotation than a request for “space-saving equipment.”

Compare the accessory list line by line

Put the carriage springs, tower springs, bars, loops, box, jumpboard and conversion board into a purchasing checklist. Mark each item as included, optional or still to be confirmed. This makes it easier to spot a quote that covers a different package.

Ask for the assembly, spring-attachment and maintenance instructions for the selected configuration. Confirm the specified safety components and how replacement parts are identified. Spring colour names and catalogue resistance figures alone are not operating instructions or proof of compatibility with another model.

Keep product price separate from delivered cost

ATME displays USD ex-factory unit prices on these model pages. Freight and tax are excluded. Use the current prices shown below as a starting point, then confirm the model, accessories, finish and branding in the written quotation. The listed MOQ for these models is 10 units; ask us to confirm the requirements for your exact order.

Request a packing plan for the complete shipment, including package count, dimensions, gross weight and any separately packed tower components. A packing dimension shown on a catalogue page is worth checking against the final configuration. Send the destination city or port and quantities per model so delivery can be quoted separately.

Where does a folding reformer fit?

A folding reformer answers a separate question: how the equipment will be stored or moved between sessions. ATMEHF002 is an internal-hinge folding model in the current catalogue. If storage is central to the brief, compare its working dimensions, approved folded position, locking procedure and handling requirements.

Do not use carton dimensions as folded storage dimensions. Do not assume that a tower can be added to a folding frame or remain attached during folding. Ask for a demonstration and written compatibility information for the exact proposed combination.

Send a brief that can be quoted

Include model codes and quantities, the planned class format, room dimensions and ceiling height, required accessories, upholstery or frame preferences, logo placement and the destination. Add your requested delivery date, then ask us to confirm availability and production timing against the current schedule.

For a direct comparison, request ATMECC001 and ATMECB001 with the accessory lists itemised. Add ATMEHF002 if storage is part of the project. Use the product enquiry forms or email sales@atmetrading.com. We will follow up on the configuration and order requirements rather than treating a catalogue price as a complete delivered quotation.
